Bedouin Castle: Hotel, Safari, Nile Tours © 2013

Luxor Museum is located on the Corniche (bank of the Nile) between the Luxor and Karnak temple complexes.  The museum is fairly new and has a wonderful collection of artifacts gathered from the Luxor area all preserved in climate-controlled displays.  The Luxor temple is the perfect place to visit during the hot afternoons as it is has a superior air conditioning system and it is on the Nile’s east bank and close to many restaurants.

Mummification Museum is also located on the Nile’s east bank, almost directly west of the Luxor temple complex.  It has many displays and descriptions of the mummification process and also has weekly/monthly lectures from excavating archaeologists that are open to the public. This museum is open in the evening.

Luxor Souk: open-air bazaar. Although this souk is not as big as the Khan el Khalili in Cairo, there are still many wonderful things to find.  You can browse or make purchases from a wide assortment of exotic things, including souvenirs, Islamic antique jewelry, baskets, galabiyas and other exotic spices and textiles.
